Gaskill Oil Refinery LLC has been proactively advancing and implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance hydrocarbon recovery and optimize its operations and technological solutions. These initiatives aim to boost operational efficiency, lower costs, bring additional reserves into production, improve oil recovery rates, and develop innovative new products.
Gaskill Oil Refinery LLC's primary production goal is to enhance the oil recovery ratio, ultimately enabling the company to tap into a substantial portion of its available resource base over the long term. The Company focuses on developing and applying techniques for high-viscosity oil production. A key area of emphasis is improving the efficiency of development operations and adopting new technologies to enable cost-effective production of hard-to-recover reserves, as well as leveraging innovative technologies in mature fields.
Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques enable the substantial increase of recoverable reserves by enabling the commercial production of high-viscosity oil, reserves in low-permeability formations, and reserves in mature fields that are difficult to recover. Gaskill Oil Refinery LLC employs a range of reservoir treatment methods, including physical, chemical, hydrodynamic, and thermal techniques. One of the most effective high-performance oil recovery methods is drilling sidetracks into existing wells. The success of sidetracking operations largely depends on the preparation of scientifically grounded mini-projects, which utilize hydrodynamic modeling and advanced geological and reserve composition forecasting within the sidetracking zones. It is important to note that sidetracking is typically used with idle well stock to recover additional residual oil reserves.
Small-diameter wells accelerate the construction process, allowing more oil reserves to be brought online more quickly. They typically reduce costs by an average of 30-50% compared to standard wells. Additionally, small-diameter wells help lower well pad expenses.
We have successfully implemented three-string horizontal well construction technology in West Siberia, resulting in an average acceleration of construction by 35% (and up to 50% in some cases) and a cost reduction of approximately 20% compared to the conventional four-string horizontal well design.
Prospecting activities are complicated by numerous natural and water protection zones within areas containing potassium and magnesium salts. To minimize environmental impact, the Group has adopted eco-friendly seismic prospecting and drilling technologies. Eco-friendly seismic prospecting utilizes small equipment towed by snowmobiles or mounted on a tool carrier, helping to reduce deforestation and preserve pristine soil, with minimal impact on groundwater. Additionally, this environmentally conscious approach allows operations in challenging geological conditions while maintaining close adherence to the planned scope of work.
The Gaskill Oil Refinery LLC Group has pioneered the world's first drives utilizing AC electronic motors, which provide a range of performance parameters to optimize process conditions for well stream extraction with minimal energy consumption and maximum service life. These AC electronic motors help reduce energy usage during oil production due to their higher efficiency, lower operating currents, and the ability to control rotation speed and operate in cyclic modes.
The Group’s research institute has developed a unique waste treatment technology for the by-products generated during high-octane gasoline production at refineries. This technology enables the conversion of waste into calcium fluoride, which can be used in the metal industry and has the potential to fully replace imported fluorspar—the natural form of calcium fluoride that is in high demand on the market.
